and personal. You will have the opportunity of a lifetime to talk
to women who tirelessly advocate for equality and be able to discuss
your ideas on what are the issues concerning women in the coming

of women's political engagement through the insights of artists
, League of Women Voters Victoria, RMIT University students and
Women's Electoral Lobby Victoria. 'conversation' speaks of communication
tools women have utilized to evoke awareness of women's suffrage
and persistent struggle for equity in Victoria.
Who are the participants?
Women's
Electoral Lobby Victoria and League
of Women Voters Victoria speak of the value of civic and political
participation past, present and future of all Victorians, especially
women. How their organisations add to the pool of contribution
of civic duty in Victoria.
RMIT University students speak of Victorian women's
contribution to civic and community life over the past 100 years
through their project of interviewing and documenting twelve significant
women of Victoria in 2007 for second semester. Link to RMIT

The Creative team will speak of how research
has informed their artwork of their individual projects exploring
the hundred years of women's suffrage and public participation.
Ursula
Dutkiewicz has produced one hundred female clay characters
(each 30 cm high) (suffragettes) Fern Smith has be produced 10
commemorative banners interpreted from women artists, traditional
Tuthill banners and issues raised in demonstrations from 1900
to 2008.

The third conversation will
focus Cathrine Connor's composition "Fanfare for the Victorious
Woman" Catherine Connor will conduct her new work/composition
that has taken over a year of research and development, with Melbourne's
finest brass musicians. Fern Smith and Ursula Dutkiewicz will
display their years work. Women's Electoral Lobby and League of
Women Voters will speak of how their organisations campaign for
equality. RMIT University students will speak of how the of exploring
12 significant Women changed their minds eye. Free event
About: The first conversation
- 123 people attended - people heard views of women from a wide
spectrum of thought, many people had the opportunity to meet and
network during the break. All conversations will be updated later
in the year. We are busy being 'out and about' with this exciting
year of celebration supported fully by the state government who
have sponsored 'conversations'. I cannot thank Moreland Council
enough they were so supportive.
