Art has the potential to open our minds to the infinite possibility to imagine a tolerant and inclusive world. Community art workshops are facilitated by Fern Smith an artist of substance, standing and a wealth of art experience to share. If you have a communication strategy that requires the language of art and/or your group wish to convey a message; Fern has extensive experience in collaborative projects. Time and cost of the workshops /projects are to be negotiated.

1. "Art of Banners" Banners are ideal identifiers for place, time and belonging. Fern will gently guide the group/individual through the process of banner making; drawing from the Tuthill and union banners of the late 19th century. The group/individual will design, develop and produce a banner based on traditional banner making.

2. "Art of Democracy" designed to encourage and engage creative ways of looking and participating in democracy. Are you an individual or a group that has something to say?

Explore the legacy the suffragists and suffragettes in Australia, America and England have left. You will discover how to design, develop and produce a campaign based on their ephemera. For example some of the material they produced were fans, books, cards, posters, banners, and art works. Your campaign will be unique, memorable and creative it can be large or small, personal or public ideal for groups and collaborative projects.

4. "Find your tongue" It is challenging learning a new language, the visual language. Often people say they would like to be creative but don't know where to start. Fern assists with you finding your creativity your own unique visual language through fun exploration and experimentation. Ideal for both a group or individual wanting to find new a venues of expression.


5. "Paper Art" - It is a shear pleasure to produce your own books, cards or sculptures knowing you are limited only by time and your imagination. Fern Smith facilitates beginners to explore and discover the world of bookbinding, papier-mâché and paper arts.


6. Book an art facilitator/tutor for 'Your Project', Fern Smith, is proficient across many art mediums. For example: digital art, lino, wood and gelatin printing, stencil art, banners, oil, acrylic, paper art and bookbinding.

All workshops are suitable from eight to eighty for both individuals and groups.
