Paper
is a fantastic surface for women, its portable and put away-able.
Women artists often experience times of deep restriction with
child rearing, working, limited space and time. Works on paper
dry quickly and can be stored without a huge studio. In my
first years of artwork were all done at kitchen tables in
group houses (1972-1990). My work changed as my son got older
and we moved into stable housing (Juno Women's Housing) which
I help set up in the late 1980's and we moved into CO-located
housing, I got my first studio and never looked back. Works
on paper are becoming less and works on canvas more; the fun
of storage, the ever shrinking studio. These works are before
1996.
